Today I learned that my fruitless plum tree does, in fact, grow fruit. According to the great people of the internet, it grows "ornamental" fruit which can also be eaten or turned into jam - just like real fruit.
Silly me, I thought that the fruitless in the name described a tree that was without fruit. I now know this is incorrect.
But why is this fruit deemed less then the others? Too small? Imperfect? Does it not adhere to the traditional standards of fruit? I dream of a world in which all fruit are treated like fruit and none are fruit less.
