June 6, 2012

Today I learned a little bit about bees, as I came home to find these new friends have taken up residence on my backyard sunshade.

According to some helpful online bee bloggers these bees are swarming - meaning that they are protecting a brand new queen and looking for a new home. They temporarily all swarm together around their queen to keep her safe while they look for a good place to build a new hive.

At this point in their life-cycle they are very full of honey and not likely to sting.

You are quite lovely my dears, but you are not allowed to decide to live at my house. Hopefully I can find a nice beekeeper to take you tomorrow otherwise you gotta go.

Also in memory of the great Ray Bradbury - who died today - I think it is best to learn something from him.

"I don't believe in being serious about anything. I think life is too serious to be taken seriously."
