Today I learned from writer and activist Jessica Valenti who said the following regarding the Purity Ball movement on Anderson Cooper's daytime talk-show:
"I think if we want to teach our daughters to be good people, let's teach them to be good people. Their sexuality has nothing to do with that."
It sounds so simple but is actually quite a powerful thing that resonated deeply with me. I had heard her name before but did not know much about her and was pleased to learn more. Her book The Purity Myth is now on my to read list. You can view parts of her segment here.
